Search for Face of Sleek; 23 emerge from Abuja screening
Regional screening for the search for the Face of Sleek kicked off with the first phase held in Abuja the federal capital territory last Thursday. About ninety hopefuls, most of whom are university undergraduates thronged the Sleek Studio, Blommsbury Plaza, Adetokunboh Ademola Crescent, Wuse 2, Abuja venue of the screening, all gaily dressed to vie for a slot out of a possible 20 slots for the FCT. The search which is aimed at selecting a brand ambassador for Sleek Nigeria, according to Ify Ugochukwu, MD Sleek hair Nigeria, is also aimed at upholding the essence of the African beauty. “We are looking for a lady with confidence, a sense of style and good skin. It doesn’t matter if she is fat or skinny, but we are looking for that singular feature that expresses the total outlook of the African woman. It is about everything that makes you a woman, not just your facial beauty” she says. Other criteria for selection included, grammar, total look, passion and intelligence.

Nwokocha; top radio DJ Rhythm FM Abuja, Mrs Goziem Onuoha, Sleek hair franchisee Abuja and Yemisi Suleiman of Vanguard, trimmed the number of girls from about 90 to 23. The 23 selected contestants with right balance of wit and charm, will move on to the semi final screening in Lagos. For the losers, it was not all a bad day as two of the girls got free hair makeovers, while others got free Sleek goodie bags.
The regional screening moves to Enugu and Port Harcourt and Lagos this week. The semi-final event will take place at The Coral Hall, Victoria Island, Lagos on Saturday November 14, 2009. Twenty contestants will get the opportunity to go onto the next level – spending time with each other under the same roof for a maximum of two weeks while they are put through quite intensive crash courses in etiquette, grooming and fashion by trained professionals
