The actress, who recently completed a tour of four countries on a project she is still keeping under wraps, was on Sunday announced as favorite West African actress of the year at the reputable Screen Nation Film and Television Award, which held in indigo O2 Arena in the UK. The award ceremony was hosted by Angelica Bell and Michael Underwood.

In winning this year’s award, Omotola beats other nominees such as Jackie Appiah, Mercy Johnson, Genevieve Nnaji , Ama K Abebrese and others. The award further confirms the international brand following of the actress who is also an ambassador of the United Nations and Amnesty International. Omotola, who has been adjudged as the West African actress with the highest number of following on the internet, has been doing so much on the international scene of late.

Her international expedition has taken her to countries like Liberia and Sierra Leone on charitable ventures. Her charitable ventures earned her the United Nations and Amnesty International ambassador and an honorary citizen of Liberia; she took to the runway to help draw attention to hunger in some African countries.

The Screen Nation film and TV Awards is a televised event, which takes place in October during Black History Month and combines the glamour of international movie stars alongside British talent. The awards ceremony – dubbed by the media as the ‘’Black BAFTAs’’ – brings together actors, actresses, directors and filmmakers from the UK and international film and TV industry.

Beyond the Nigerian entertainment scene, Omotola Jalade, the ace Nollywood actress and musician has become a big brand outside the shores of Nigeria. She has just returned from the recently held 15th Annual Nigerian Reunion held at Orlando, Florida, where she hosted and performed alongside other top Nigerian artistes such as  Helen Paul, Eldee, Basketmouth, M.I, Yvonne Orji, Seyi Brown and others.

She returned to Nigeria weeks back and her first public appearance was at Psquare’s ‘Invasion’ album launch at Eko Hotel and did a follow-up at Uche Jombo’s movie premiere ‘Damage’.

Omotola who has been off social scenes due to the fact that she has been busy on two international jobs ‘Ties that binds’ in Ghana, an African movie written and produced by Leila Djansi where she acted alongside four-time NAACP Image Award winner, Kimberly Elise. The other being ‘Amina’ a movie she shot in UK where she acted alongside British renowned actor and boxer, Will Johnson.

Omotola who is not known to attend every event as she’s quite selective and get paid to grace some of these events is gearing up for another movie with greater international dimension. She is however keeping the deal under her wrap.

The super star actress is back at her desk in her GRA office where she going through scripts and attending to other businesses outside of the entertainment industry.

The stage seems to be set for a show-down between top rated Nollywood actress/singer Omotola Ekeinde and the publishers of the online blog – www.Nigeriafilms.com.  This showdown is in relation to a publication about Omo Sexy, on the wesbite. In the said publication, the website claimed Omo Sexy is having a sizzling and immoral relationship with Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, CEO of Sifax based on the fact that www.nigeriafilms.com sights her  regularly at the Apapa office office.

According to a release from Bigsam Media – the company responsible for Omotola’s PR,

It is a big fat lie that Mrs. Ekeinde frequents the office of Dr. Afolabi, the major reason given for the said romance. She has NEVER being to the said office at all.

Secondly, the Ekeindes and the Afolabis are family friends. Members of the families do exchange visits. Members of the Afolabi family do visit the Iba home of the Ekeinde often while the Ekeindes do the same. Captain Matthew Ekeinde and Dr. Afolabi are particularly fond of each other and do discuss at length when occasion permits. The last time Mrs. Ekeinde was at the Afolabi’s house was when she had a meeting with MRS. AFOLABI on participating in the highly publicized, Gaga4Fashion organized by the Afolabi’s children.  It is an open knowledge that the families of Ekeinde and Afolabi have a long
standing relationship and Capt. Ekeinde is particularly close to Dr. Afolabi.
